Help us keep Civil Rights history alive!

"We must all live life to the fullest with meaning and purpose and spread the word to maintain and advance the freedoms we enjoy."
- Leona Tate, to a full class of students during a speaking engagement day in April, 2017

At the age of six, Leona Tate made Civil Rights history. Today, she inspires, encourages, and serves her community by sharing her personal story. She acquaints young people with the courage of ordinary people in the struggle for equality and helps them exercise critical thinking.

Engage with us to preserve, honor and share New Orleans Civil Rights history by:

  • Expanding our speaking engagement program,
  • Offering summer camp and after-school program, and
  • Supporting the creation of the first Civil Rights Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana.
